Don Clatterbough wears Vinci Bones batting gloves

Don Clatterbough is one of only 31 men in the National Softball Hall of Fame (Men’s Slow Pitch category). He has over 4,000 career home runs and a .725 career batting average playing against some of the top talent in the country.  He was a member of the legendary Steele’s softball team. That team was considered one of the best of all time. Pete Vinci has played against him many times. Pete says “Clatter” is still one of the best hitters around.  His choice of batting gloves are the Vinci Bones. “Clatter” has said they are the best he has ever used.

New Vinci Glove Break In Kit

Wednesday, May 13th, 2009

If you are looking to break in a new glove or just to maintain your glove, Vinci is  proud to announce our new glove break in kit. This kit includes a wooden mallet, two rubber bands, a hard plastic ball, and glove conditioner.

Vinci Glove Break-in Kit

The wooden mallet is great for pounding the pocket of the glove for quicker break in to help form a nice pocket. The taper end of the mallet is tapered, which really helps opening finger stalls. The bands are great to breaking in a glove and also can be used all the time with your pocket ball. Cross the bands in an X pattern with the ball in pocket and keep it that way in your equipment bag or wherever you store your glove in between games. This ball with bands technique will help maintain the pocket shape to insure you can keep ‘making the play’.

The kit also comes with our special Vinci glove conditioner. Whether you are an amateur or a pro, breaking in and maintaining your glove is very important. We hope you will enjoy this new addition to our product line.

Maintain your glove and it will help you to make the play for many games. Let’s Play ball!

The Meaning Behind The Vinci Glove Names

Saturday, February 28th, 2009

Did you know that every Vinci model baseball and softball glove is named after either a member of the family or a very close friend? Some are named after current members of the family and many are of family that have passed on and there’s a story to just about every one of them. It’s hard to pick the most interesting story, because they all are. Our President, Pete, personally picks each model number himself. Each glove also contains the actual signature of Pete’s father Benjamin Vinci. This is a tribute to Pete’s dad and the type of special person Benjamin was.

Of course Pete’s other hero and teacher in life was his mother Rose. Both Ben and Rose have passed on but still live on in the Vinci family and influence us every day. So appropriately the first model we start off with is the BRV45. This model stands for the union of Benjamin and Rose Vinci, hence BRV. Another interesting  baseball glove model is the BV1941, also named after Benjamin Vinci with  1941 representing the year Ben was shot and wounded at Pearl Harbor. You can read more about Benjamin Vinci by visiting www.pearlharborhero.com.

Getting Ready for the Season

Sunday, February 15th, 2009

This is a great time of year if you’re into baseball. Spring training is about to start in Florida and Arizona with many teams having high hopes. It will be great to get out there and have the smells again of cut grass and hot dogs which must mean baseball. Here at VINCI it’s been interesting as we are getting gloves ready for many pro baseball players boxed up and ready to ship to spring training. In the next few days we will be talking about some players we have spoken to on the phone and try and get you up to date on what’s going on. Also, if you are getting ready to play this spring remember to keep working hard during the off season. What you do in the off season will bring you rewards during the season.

We have been talking to the Manager of the Italian WBC team and will pass along his thoughts on the Classic this Spring. Please come back for updates and some fun reading.
