Tigers Call Up Wilkin Ramirez

From the Detriot Tigers article:

Unless he makes a pinch-hit or substitution appearance on Tuesday night, he’s expected to make his Major League debut Wednesday against Rangers left-hander Matt Harrison.

For the season, Ramirez is batting .316 with the Mud Hens, with five home runs, 13 RBIs, 23 runs scored and 14 stolen bases in 17 attempts. That includes a 12-for-22 tear since May 8, with four homers and six RBIs. He had a two-homer, four-hit game on Saturday at Charlotte, then went 3-for-3 with another homer and a stolen base on Sunday.

We at Vinci just want to say we are so happy for him. He is a great person who plays the game hard and with a lot of heart.

Way to go Wilkin!

Chicago White Sox Prospects Wearing Vinci Gloves

Sunday, May 17th, 2009

Vinci gloves have been seen on two of the Charlotte Knights pitching staff (Triple A affiliate of the Chicago White Sox). Derek Rodriguez is pitching with a 0.96 ERA in 6 appearances since being called up. For those of you who do not know Derek was taken last winter in the Rule 5 draft by the Tampa Bay Rays where he spent most of Spring training in Big League camp…   He was later returned to Chicago where he is making waves in the bullpen. He had a 0.00 ERA in 7 appearances with Double A Birmingham prior to getting his call up, where he has continued to baffle batters in the International League..  We at Vinci are very proud to have Derek on our team he is not only a great baseball pitcher with a ton of potential, but is a great person… He uses a Vinci MV30 Kip Leather Fielders Glove.

A fellow teammate of Derek Carlos Torres is also having a stellar season, he has an ERA of 1.91 and a record of 3-1 with Triple A Charlotte.  Carlos is another fine person working hard to reach his dream…

We wish both players great luck on this season and are so proud of the efforts they have put forth!

New Vinci Glove Break In Kit

Wednesday, May 13th, 2009

If you are looking to break in a new glove or just to maintain your glove, Vinci is  proud to announce our new glove break in kit. This kit includes a wooden mallet, two rubber bands, a hard plastic ball, and glove conditioner.

Vinci Glove Break-in Kit

Vinci Glove Break-in Kit

The wooden mallet is great for pounding the pocket of the glove for quicker break in to help form a nice pocket. The taper end of the mallet is tapered, which really helps opening finger stalls. The bands are great to breaking in a glove and also can be used all the time with your pocket ball. Cross the bands in an X pattern with the ball in pocket and keep it that way in your equipment bag or wherever you store your glove in between games. This ball with bands technique will help maintain the pocket shape to insure you can keep ‘making the play’.

The kit also comes with our special Vinci glove conditioner. Whether you are an amateur or a pro, breaking in and maintaining your glove is very important. We hope you will enjoy this new addition to our product line.

Maintain your glove and it will help you to make the play for many games. Let’s Play ball!

Back from Spring Training

Monday, April 6th, 2009

Well, we’re back from Spring Training and what a wonderful trip it was seeing friends in Florida. The one thing that was not so nice was not having two good friends down there this year. They could not make it down and it wasn’t quite the same without Angelo Corbo and Larry Berra, we missed their company.

Now on to the people we ran into while being here. Seeing our good friend’s Vald Nunez and his wife Gissia, she knows more about baseball than Peter Gammons. Nunez was having a great spring training with the Braves and hope to see him in Atlanta. We also saw many good friends that I’ll be giving updates about during the season. Also, spent a few days with Jim Sanson and Tito which we shared many laughs with. It also brought me much joy seeing and being with players and coaches like Jose Camarena, Phil Britton, Diory Hernandez, Francisley Bueno, Barbaro Canizares, Luis Ortiz, Guy Hansen, Carlos Mendez, Leon Roberts, Dave Brundage, Luis Marte, Sixto Lezcano, Jeff Ridgway and outfielder Wilkin Ramirez. And of course Andy Barkett and Joe DiPastino and his wife Amy with Detroit Tigers. And can’t forget those behind the scenes guys like Nick Dixon, Justin Clift, and Manny Maldonado in Orlando and Woody Saylor, Julie Kremer in Tampa who took good care of us.

Already looking forward to next spring when I hope to have with me my son Peter John, my brother Joe, Nick Jones and good friend Gerry Huppmann. While we were down here got a nice surprise when we received a jersey from the Italian WBC baseball team signed by the players that was really cool thanks so much to Manager, Marco Mazzeri. Now lets get ready for the season … Play Ball !!!

WBC TEAM Italy and Having Heart!

Tuesday, March 10th, 2009

Did anyone see the game between Team Italy and Team Canada?

Wow, what a Game. Canada was picked to blow Italy away but Italia Manager, Marco Mazzieri had his team play hard and played with a lot of heart and at the end WON the game against tough odds.

There is a lesson here for everyone about life. How many times have you been told that you were too small or too slow to play a sport? Or how many times did the doctor tell the patient you have no chance?

Or that you can’t make it because of whatever. But here is the lesson everyone should learn by this game. When we are told you can’t do this or no chance at that, now’s the time to stand up and pull those sleeves up. Come back and fight and do everything you can and show that heart lives in everyone of us. There’s an old saying my Mom and Dad taught me and that is “never, never, never give up!” You are strong and do whatever you can to stand up and show what you can do. Learn from Marco’s team you keep fighting and fighting back and you may surprise yourself. But the biggest thing in life is keep going forward against all odds and never giving up. I guess life is like a baseball game. So go out there and play with a lot of HEART!
