Leading MLB All Star Votes

The MLB All-Star game is heading to Target Field in Minnesota for the 2014 mid summer classic. Voting for both the American League and National league ends on July 3rd, 2014 with the managers fill the remaining bench spots as well as the entire rotation.

In the American League Jose Bautista leads all American League vote getters with a little more than 2.1 million votes. Bautista is followed by Mike Trout and Melky Cabrera to round out the outfield spots. Starting with the catcher position we have Matt Wieters, first baseman Miguel Cabrera, second baseman Robinson Cano, shortstop Derek Jeter and third baseman Josh Donaldson. Nelson Cruz, who currently leads the majors in home runs leads all designated hitters.

Over in the National League  Troy Tulowitzki has the overall lead in votes with nearly 2.6 million votes. Tulowitzki would currently be joined by Yadier Molina at catcher, Paul Goldschmidt at first base, Chase Utley at second base and David Wright at third base. In the outfield Yasiel Puig, Andrew McCutchen and Giancarlo Stanton  are the top three vote getters for NL outfielders.

The starting rotations and bullpens for both the American League and National League squads will be a toss up. In the American league both Mark Buehrle and Masahiro Tanaka each have 10 wins. In the National League Alfredo Simon and Adam Wainwright each have nine wins.

In the bullpen for the American League Greg Holland leads all closers with 20 saves. The other spots could go to Texas Rangers closer Joakim Soria, who has 15 saves and a 1.80 earned run average as well as Koji Uehara with 15 saves and a .57 earned run average. Over in the National League Francisco Rodriguez has 21 saves followed by Craig Kimbrel, Sergio Romo and Trevor Rosenthal who all have 20.
